Sandsjöbacka Trail Marathonwas created to show the world that trail running in winter-time is well worth the effort, espescially if you are running from point to point and passing through all the wilderness that goes almost unbroken all the the way from Kungsbacka into central Göteborg. Running through dawn, daylight and dusk on the ever-varying trails of the Sandsjöbacka nature reserve is an experience we want to share with as many as possible – and it is our firm belief that the more that knows the value of these beautiful places, the easier it will be to preserve them for the future.

The first Sandsjöbacka Trail was held in 2011, by our running club Kvarnbyns Löparsällskap. Since then the race has grown organically, and before the 2014 edition the race had gotten to big for such a small running club. In order to save both the club and the race, it was unanimously decided that the Nedevska Coaching, a company driven by two of the club members, should continue the work with the race.

It is our vision to provide a down-to-earth race and happy race, but with a professional feeling. At a small amount of aid station you will find supportive and positive volonteers and the renowned Sandsjöbacka Mudcake – otherwise the experience is dominated by your own battle with the elements and the shifting countryside.
